Press Release Body: STROLL WITH THE GREAT GREYS OCTOBER 7TH OPG presents a greyhound walk and health seminar
San Diego, CA: The first Annual Greyhound Walk and Health Seminar, hosted by Operation Greyhound, kicks off at 8am on Sunday October 7th. This free event offers open-air bonding for people and their pets, with a morning walk through Crestridge Ecological Reserve, followed by an informative, fun seminar covering several important topics including: infectious diseases in dogs, dog behavior issues, senior pet knowledge and even insight into pet therapy.
Commenting on the importance of presenting at this seminar, "It has been an honor and privilege to provide tick-borne and fungal disease testing services to Operation Greyhound over the past 10+ years. It is clear that their goal is to give their greyhounds the healthiest start possible in their new life." Cynthia Holland, PhD Director, Protatek Reference Laboratory
Refreshments will be served and free drawings for prizes will be held after each presentation. Participants will also be able to meet Greyhounds up for adoption. Seating is very limited, so pre-registration is required. For more information, please visit http://www.operationgreyhound.com or call Operation Greyhound at 619.588.6611.
Agreeing that this event is needed, Dr. Andrew Klotz, who has a retired greyhound, said, "As vets, some of the most common things we treat are behavioral issues - and yet behavioral issues are actually one the most preventable. Operation Greyhound has done a great job putting this event together and I am happy to help." Dr. Andrew Klotz, Acacia Animal Health Center.
Another eager speaker added, "Pet therapy is so powerful in that people experience the unconditional love of an animal. I see such good things come out of it when I take Athena (my greyhound) to meet people in need of her affection. Plus I am able to further the awareness that greyhounds have approachable natures and are very capable of helping others." Colleen Spencer, volunteer
Overview of schedule: 8:00am: early morning walk. All well-behaved breeds are welcome.
10:00am: Dr. Cynthia Holland Director, Protatek Reference Laboratory in Arizona, will speak about tick-borne diseases
10:50am: Colleen Spencer, with Helen Woodward Animal center Pet Encounter will offer insight into pet therapy
11:20am: Dr. Andrew Klotz, a veterinarian with the Acacia Animal Health Center will shed light on behavior issues and training.
